Don't Be Cruel
I love fashion and I look forward to red carpets as I would guess sports fans look forward to the Superbowl/world series/NBA finals. And the fashion world is very cruel. I guess not any crueler than fans/sports announcers tearing the goalie to pieces cause he let one ball in or the basketball player who misses a shot.
I just read this article by comedian Sarah Millican regarding the attack she received on Twitter about her red carpet look at the BAFTAS. And good for her.
I think fashion should be a tool to enhance, to build confidence. Something that we do for ourselves to feel like a princess or as if we can take on the world (whatever you are going for at the moment). It certainly shouldn't be something that you are judged on.
Not everyone can wear the same look and I think we should dress to our body type. What looks beautiful on one person will not look the same on someone else. And regardless of your body type there are clothes that enhance your natural beauty.
I looked up the picture (below) and had every intention to post it regardless of what I thought about the dress. However I have to say that I think she looks beautiful. It's a great dress and I don't know what the big fuss was all about. But regardless of the dress and fit why does anyone think they have the right to insult someone on Twitter for the way they look. WTF?
I guess this struck a nerve for me because of all the rude remarks I see/hear all the time. From comments below a news story that attack the families of someone who may have fallen on hard times or been in some sort of accident to the criticism of celebrities and how they look and everything they do. Who the hell do you think you are to say such terrible things about anyone? Who the hell are you and what have you done to make this a better world?
I hope that I never change my mind but my posts will be about what I love. If I don't like it I will look away and move on.
And here are 6 Reasons Why Sarah Millican is Simply Brilliant!

How do you get someone out of your mind?
It was some sort of a relationship for a few years but really nothing much at all. However I find myself thinking of him way too often. At first I tried to force myself to stop and that just made it worse. Then I decided to not try anything. And that doesn't seem to work either. And for the last few days immediately when I wake up he is on my mind or something that reminds me of him comes to mind immediately. I'm talking about the minute that I wake up without having time to think of anything. How does that stop? And why the hell does it happen?
It just seems that for a very insignificant relationship I seem to be having a harder time to get him out of my mind than with any of my real past relationships.

Fave Carrie Bradshaw Quotes
Will there ever be another Carrie Bradshaw? I miss her and think of her very often :(

Below are some of my favorite CB quotes:
'The universe may not always play fair, but at least it's got a hell of a sense of humour.'
'I will never be the woman with the perfect hair, who can wear white and not spill on it.'
'He's not my boyfriend. He's just somebody I'm trying on.'
'I will not be the first one to speak. And if he never calls me again, I'll always think of him fondly, as an asshole.'
'It's like the riddle of the Sphinx... why are there so many great unmarried women, and no great unmarried men?'
My top two favorites:
'Being single used to mean that nobody wanted you. Now it means you’re pretty sexy and you’re taking your time deciding how you want your life to be and who you want to spend it with.'
'They say nothing lasts forever; dreams change, trends come and go, but friendships never go out of style.'

A-K-R-I-S- My new love!
I just love it when I discover a designer. Below is a little info on Akris followed by a few of my favorites from their Spring/Summer 2013 Collection.
Akris is an independent family owned fashion house established 90 years
ago in St. Gallen, a Swiss town renowned for its longstanding tradition
as the heart of the country's textile industry.
Fashion at Akris is more than a visual event. Clothing is a protective
sheath that enters into a sensual dialogue with the body of the woman
who wears it. That is why fabrics play a crucial role. For Akris
designer Albert Kriemler, they are the mother lode of fashion and one of
its most important sources of inspiration. In his own words, "The
design of every item begins with a piece of fabric in my hand."
Albert Kriemler has spearheaded fashion design at Akris for over 30
years.

Enough
I feel as if I have aged 10 years in the last 3 months. Enough. I need to take care of myself. Work is going to need to move over and allow time for me. I am eating better, getting some exercise, taking vitamins and breathing. Lots of breathing. I need to elevate me in my list of priorities. My daughter, me and then we can look at everything else.

It's Been Too Long
I can't believe that it's been over a year since I last posted. I love fashion, I love to see what the celebrities I love are wearing and what they are up to. I think that every piece of carpet (or concrete or tile or marble, etc.) is a runway. I love to compliment people and always notice a nice piece of jewelry, a fabulous bag or outfit. I also notice a woman over 40 wearing LOVE PINK across her ass and the man who is close to 50 walking into a restaurant in pajama pants. It's sad to know that there are so many people out there who don't have loved ones who will tell them the truth!
I believe in doing good and being good. I believe in bringing attention to the things that are important to me. And I think it's wonderful when somebody who has influence or an audience lets us know about things that really matter. Angelina Jolie has been all over the press this week with regards to her procedure when finding out that she had the BRCA1 mutation. I for one am not a fan of Jolie. Don't care for most of her movies (I'm strictly a chick flick chick) nor her personal life (team Jennifer all the way!). However, I admire some of the work she does and the passion she brings to what matters to her. I think that going public was awesome in that everyone is talking about this and it's all over the press. That awareness is priceless.
I've been thinking a lot lately about taking better care of myself. I need to exercise more, eat better and do more of what I love. I work for a great company that is a total feel good. However my current "job" pretty much stinks. It is going to get better but I can't wait for then to take care of myself. Writing is one of those things that I love to do and I never seem to find time fore. I have no formal training (as I'm sure you have noticed) but I enjoy it and it helps clear my head.
I'm going to commit to writing more, exercising more and just overall enjoying the things I love. Have a fabulous weekend!

2012 Grammy Awards
I have to say that I was a little disappointed with this years red carpet. Below are some of the very few looks I liked.
And the most beautiful dress on the red carpet this evening - unfortunately worn with the most distracting undergarments:
Backstage Favorite!
My Favorite Performances of the Evening:
The Beach Boys with Maroon 5! Tony Bennett and Carrie Underwood! Jennifer Hudson! Adele! Sir Paul McCartney's finale!
I also loved the electronic dance music - I've been a fan of this music for many years.

Greatest Love of All - RIP Whitney Houston
These pictures are of the Whitney that I will remember. A healthy, beautiful, talented artist who performed some of the most beautiful songs that will live on forever.
The Greatest Love of All (with lyrics) "No matter what they take from me they can't take away my dignity" "Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all" However, it really isn't that easy to achieve.
My post on Facebook reads: RIP Whitney Houston. Such a sad story.
It's sad because it didn't have to end this way. Half of her life should not have been so ugly.
I believe that we all have demons inside. Most of us are strong enough to ignore them and go on to live loving, productive lives. I also believe that we need to be careful who we surround ourselves with because they can either help us to be stronger or tempt us. Ultimately we are responsible for our choices. But it's easier to choose good when you are surrounded by good then if you surround yourself with crap.
It amazes me (and scares the hell out of me) how we see this time and time again. People who are sitting on top of the world, who succumb to substance abuse, who's lives have ended tragically much sooner than they should have. And it continues to happen. You would think that all these lives should have served as examples. And yet there are more than a few playing Russian roulette on a regular basis.
Whitney Houston had an incredible voice, it was magical. She seemed to have everything most of us will only get to dream of. However, there were demons that she was not able to overcome. Demons who she allowed to take over. What should have been a fairy tale childhood for her daughter appears to have been the biggest nightmare imaginable. Brought up in turmoil surrounded by drugs and people with very little self-respect. God bless Bobbi Kristina. May she find the strength to be more. To become a happy, healthy, loving woman. May her mother's death not be in vain.
But this does not only happen to those who are sitting on top of the world with the wealth and power to support such lifestyles. Every day there are so many good, loving families who are losing loved one as well. Anyone who has a daughter, a nephew, sisters, any loved ones should be very afraid. Respect and love yourself. Show your loved ones that you love them and respect them. Every single day. And don't be blinded. It has to be extremely hard to face the fact that a loved one needs help but it can't be ignored. If you need help seek it immediately.
May your lives and those of your loved ones be healthy and free of any abuse. Peace.
